After Your Massage

After your relaxing massage, depending on what type you receive it’s important to pay close attention to your body.

When you have a massage, your body goes through a passive workout. Most of your muscles will have been loosened up and are enjoying the extra blood flowing through them. Many of the toxins our bodies collect throughout the day are also loosened up and need to exit the body. It is important to drink a little more water for about 24 hours after your massage to keep the blood flowing smoothly and rid your body of as much of the toxins as possible.

It is also important to be aware of changes your body might experience such as improved range of motion, pain relief, and an overwhelming feeling of relaxation. Driving a car immediately after receiving a massage can be dangerous. It might be a good idea to wait 30 minutes or so before getting behind the wheel. You should also wait an hour or so before doing anything that would require you to lift heavy objects or make sudden moves while your body is in repair.

Sports Massage would be in a different category.
Sports massage is designed to get your muscles ready for exertion and not intended to relax you.

There are many different types of massage styles and there is one to fit you.
Please share what has work for you in the past and how it has helped.
