Benefits of regular massage sessions
Just some of the reasons why everyone needs to have regular massage.
One of the most popular things you will hear from Medical Doctors and Chiropractors is to keep moving. Our bodies were made to move, remember the range of motion you had as a kid? If you are as flexible now as you were when you were a kid then chances are you have been moving your body to its full range of motion (like Yoga) or getting regular massage.
Let me simplify the reactions your body may experience from having regular massage. Think of your muscles as rubber bands and your blood the lubricant that keeps them from hardening or deteriorating. Repetitive motion or lack of motion can cause less blood flow to the muscle. Not having enough blood flowing to areas of muscle tissue can cause pain and discomfort and over time cause deformation of the muscle. For instance over use can shorten the muscle or not using your muscle can cause atrophy. Massage keeps you moving!
Regular massage increases your circulation and brings blood to starving muscles. This can also be accomplished by certain forms of Yoga. (Most Yogi’s get massage too) Regular exercise does help but remember repetitive motion is not good for the body unless you are also using the opposite action to counter act the effects.
But what does “having regular massage” mean? Once a month? Once a week? Everyday? If I could afford to have one every day I would! Bob Hope had a massage every day, he lived to be over 100 years old and was able to get around very well for his age. But that is extreme.
The answer lies within your body’s make up and how well you treat it. I recommend once a week if you are in an extremely stressful job and can afford the cost. If you are in a highly stressful job and can’t afford the cost, you need to ask for a raise or find a better fitting job! Most people can get away with having a massage once a month and or as needed. Having a regular massage therapist can help you determine how often you should have a massage. Soon you will also be able to tell when you need one.
Regular massage puts you back in touch with your body. You will be surprised at how knowing where your pain is coming from and being able to keep it at bay, empowers you. A good massage therapist can recommend ways to help you keep your body out of pain. In fact a licensed massage therapist may even be able to tell you what some of the possible causes or actions contributing to your pain or discomfort. Remember to always consult your trusted doctor for pain or discomfort. If it’s muscular, your best bet is to see a licensed massage therapist we are the experts in that department. I also recommend having a regular massage therapist, a go to person, but to also try others, you may out grow the one you have or find a better fit.

Be Blessed Always..
